New pupil transport regulation

From January 1, 2026, a new Regulation and Policy Rules for Pupil Transport will apply in the municipality of Wassenaar. These are adapted to current legislation and ensure fair and future-proof transportation. 

Requirements may change. The municipality is focusing more on what students and parents can do themselves. For example, independent travel or transportation training from the age of 10. The municipality assesses the most appropriate form of transportation (bicycle, public transportation, private transportation, or taxi van) for each situation. Where necessary, the municipality enlists the help of a consultant. New agreements regarding pick-up points, supervision, and personal contributions are possible.

Do you already have an order for school year 2025-2026? If so, it will remain valid. For the 2026-2027 school year, your application will be evaluated according to the new rules. Always report changes in your situation immediately.
