Voters from another EU country
You may decide in which EU country you will vote. In the Netherlands or in the EU country of your nationality. Are you going to vote in the Netherlands? Then you will vote for one of the Dutch members of the European Parliament.
Register once
Are you an EU citizen? And do you live in the Netherlands but do not have Dutch nationality? If you want to vote in the Netherlands, you must fill out a Y-32 form in advance. With this you register once at your municipality. You can consult this manual when completing the form.
With the Y-32 form you declare that you will not vote in another country. Otherwise, you could vote 2 times for the European Parliament. And that is not allowed. You also declare with this form that you are not excluded from the right to vote.
This declaration model Y-32 must be received by the Dutch municipality where you are registered no later than 44 days before election day. For the European Parliament elections of June 6, 2024, this is no later than Tuesday, April 23, 2024.
The municipality registers your request in the Basic Registration of PersonsBRP). The registration remains valid as long as:
- the member state of your nationality is a member of the EU
- you live in the Netherlands
- you do not revoke the registration
Send the form with attachment via email or by mail to the municipality. You can also drop the form off at the reception desk in the town hall during our business hours.
Revoke registration
Have you previously registered for European elections in the Netherlands? But do you want to vote in 2024 in the EU country of your nationality? Then contact the municipality in the Netherlands where you live or lived to revoke your previous registration Y-32.
