Supervision and Enforcement (BOA's)

Special Investigative Officers (BOAs) work to ensure that the municipality remains healthy, livable, and safe. They do this by enforcing regulations regarding public spaces and safety. In this way, the BOAs help make Wassenaar a pleasant and livable place.

The BOAs work closely with the police, but have different duties. The BOAs enforce the rules set forth in the General Local Ordinance of Wassenaar (APV). This is municipal legislation governing public order and safety. Examples of their duties include enforcing parking regulations and responding to reports of public nuisances. They also assist with events and oversee the enforcement of special laws.
