Fishing in Wassenaar

For fishing rights to fish in waterways, you need a Fish Pass in Wassenaar. Without a Vispas you are not allowed to fish in any watercourse in Wassenaar. By watercourses we mean rivers and ponds. This does not apply to crustaceans. Crustaceans are crustaceans with a shell, armor or carapace which live in the water. Crustaceans may not be fished in accordance with the fishing regulations.

The Fishing Pass

You do not apply for a fishing pass at the municipality. For more information about applying for a fishing pass and contact information, visit Sportvisserij Nederland and VISplanner. 

At the following waterways in Wassenaar, you may fish with a Fishing Pass or Youth Fishing Pass:

  1. Greenhouse drainage from Ruigelaan to a distance of about 65 meters from the Mill Ditch;
  2. Veenwatering (on the west side of the water) from the driveway to Duivenvoorde (Host and Voordelaan) to Papeweg and from Papeweg to Nieuwewegsebrug and from Nieuwewegsebrug to the Rhine (partial Leiden);
  3. Port at Oostdorperweg/Hofcampweg with the feeder canal to the Zijlwatering;
  4. Zijlwatering southwest of the Schulpbrug (bridge in Lange Kerkdam) to near the ponds of Oud Wassenaar Castle;
  5. Zijlwatering northeast of the Schulpbrug bridge to the Oude Rijn (partly Katwijk);
  6. Zanderijvaart insofar as located between the Zijlwatering and the bridge Kerkstraat/Schouwweg and between this bridge and Jagerslaan-north and for this latter part from the shoulder of Spelderslaan;
  7. the water on either side of Hunter Avenue from the Zanderijvaart canal to the buildings and only from the road side.

At the following waterways in Wassenaar, only members of the Wassenaarse Hengelsportvereniging are allowed to fish:

  1. Paauwvijver behind Council House De Paauw;
  2. Pond in the Hartekamp estate on Backershagenlaan and only from the jetties;
  3. Pond in the Weteringpark II neighborhood, located as an offshoot of the Zijlwatering opposite the marina;
  4. Pond in the Weteringpark II neighborhood near the petting zoo on Rodenburg Avenue.
