Resilience

Resilient village
In Wassenaar, we are preparing for this. We are doing this together with you. We want to be a resilient village. We think ahead: what can happen? And what does that mean for us? This way we are stronger in a crisis or emergency situation.
What is resilience?
Resilience means being prepared for an emergency. You know what to do and how to help others. Think practical things, but also good contact with neighbors or family. In a resilient society, people help each other and know what they can do for each other.
Why is a resilient Wassenaar important?
When you are prepared, you stay calmer in an emergency. You know what to do. This prevents panic. You can react faster and get back to your normal life sooner.
What can you do?
Think now about what you can do in the event of a crisis. During an emergency, there may not be time for that. With good preparation, you will help yourself and others.
Make an emergency kit
Health that you have an emergency kit that will allow you and your family to get by without power or water for 72 hours. Also consider items for babies, children or pets. Putting together an emergency kit is easy. You often already have many items in your home. Check out the checklist at think-forward.com.
This is how you get an alert
In case of danger, you will receive a warning. For example, via NL-Alert on your cell phone. Or via the siren or regional radio. You will then hear what you need to do. Read more at denkvooruit.nl.
Tip: Take your ID, medications and extra clothes with you when you leave.
Agree on a meeting place
Discuss with roommates, family or neighbors what you will do in the event of an emergency. Agree where to meet. Form an "emergency group" together. That way you know everyone is safe.
Tip: Take your ID, medications and extra clothes with you when you leave.
