The municipality of Wassenaar has two locations with trailer sites: Lagerweide and Ruigelaan. These sites are primarily privately owned. Due to the demand for sites, the 2021–2025 Housing Vision “Grip op Wonen” includes plans to create additional sites in Wassenaar.
On February 24, 2026, the Municipal Executive adopted the “Detailed Rules for Registration and Allocation of Mobile Home Sites.” These rules take into account the principle of descent.
As of May 1, 2026, the registration registry is open for those seeking a site to register.
Waiting List System
The municipality uses a dynamic waiting list system with two categories. This means that only caravan dwellers seeking a site who have first- or second-degree relatives legally residing at a caravan site in Wassenaar may register for placement on the “waiting list” (= list of registered site seekers). Applicants are assigned to category 1 or 2 and receive starting points based on their personal situation. As a result, it is possible for later applicants to be placed higher on the waiting list. To ensure that applicants are assigned the correct category and starting points, it is important that you provide sufficient background information and the requested documents.
Cost
Registration for those seeking a business location is not non-binding. A fee of €35.00 must be paid upon initial registration (followed by an annual fee of €17.50 for renewal).
The date your payment is received will be considered your registration date.
Point system and priority system
Once you have paid, completed the form correctly, and submitted the required documents, you will be registered as a site seeker or placed on the “waiting list.”
Written confirmation
Once we have received your payment and approved your registration, we will send you a letter serving as proof of registration. This letter will also indicate the number of starting points allocated to you.
Note
- The list of registered applicants for housing is not made public due to privacy regulations. The GDPR(General Data Protection Regulation) does not permit its disclosure. You will only receive information about the number of points you have accumulated. You will not receive information about your position on the waiting list.
- Each year, you will receive a letter requesting payment of the fees for renewing your registration.
- You are responsible for promptly notifying us of any change in your address.
