Support and assistance from the Wmo
Actively participating in society and continuing to live independently is important to many people. The Social Support Act (Wmo) regulates that the municipality can help you if you cannot do everything yourself. For example, because of your age, disability or illness.
When can you get support?
To determine whether you can get support or help from the Wmo, the municipality examines whether there are other solutions. Together you will discuss these questions:
- What have you already done yourself? Is there more you can do?
- What are family and friends doing to help you? Is there anything else they can do?
- What help or resources can you buy, rent or arrange for yourself? Can you get Health reimbursed from your health insurance?
- Do you expect to need help in the future? And how can you prepare for this now? For example, by looking for another home in time. Or saving for adaptations to your home.
All rules and agreements about the Wmo are in these documents:
For what problems is support available?
If there are no other solutions, you may be able to get support from the municipality. Would you like to know more? Then contact the Social Team.
Examples of problems where the municipality may be able to help you:
- You can't manage to clean your house. Your family and friends can't do it either.
- You can no longer get up or down the stairs properly. As a result, you can no longer go to your bedroom and bathroom.
- You can no longer go anywhere by yourself. For example, you can no longer walk well. Or you cannot travel by car, bicycle or bus.
- You have little to do in a day and you feel lonely.
- The people who help you (your family caregivers) are having a hard time.
- You can no longer live at home alone.
- You have psychological symptoms that prevent you from doing your daily things. For example, you have trouble planning, making choices or going outside.
How do you apply for support from the Wmo?
Do you need support or assistance? Then report this to the municipality with a Wmo notification. The municipality will then contact you.
What does support from the Wmo cost?
Do you receive support from the Wmo? Then sometimes you have to pay part of it yourself. This is called the own contribution.
How much you have to pay can be found on the CAK website.
Sometimes you do not have to pay the co-payment. For example, if you need a wheelchair.
